Let's celebrate a Mud Pack Day today! Some people do in the US :)

I've found out it's a Mud Pack Day today! Americans can be really weird, indeed... :)
Would you like to celebrate a Mud Pack Day? How? I guess the best way would be to just put some mud on your face and that's it! :)

I know that mud packs have always been popular, many SPAs offer face treatments of various types including mud packs... I hope women know what I am talking about today because I myself hardly know it...

Anyhow, I personally don't think mud packs can have any positive impact on any face. Perhaps the fact of having to remain in a horizontal position for a quarter or so has more value to our well-being than just mud itself ;) Or perhaps I am badly mistaken; if so, please correct me! :)

Now, I'd like to give you a few CPE words to make your face wrinkle: :)
  1. sugar cane - trzcina cukrowa
  2. marine - morski
  3. a meeting point - punkt spotkania
  4. field research - badanie terenowe
  5. inventory - spis

Did you know it? It's a Confucius Day today!

I don't know much of this guy but I have come across some of his clever thoughts here and there. One of many wise things he said in his life is the following:

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember.
I do and I understand.

Now, I am thinking of our beautiful school system in Poland but elsewhere as well... Why are these systems so fossilized? Why isn't there a person, a party, whoever... who would be brave enough to introduce some changes to this long ineffective system of teaching mostly based on lecturing, testing and leaving poor kids with loads of totally boring and uninspiring homework assignments?

As far as my observations are concerned most teachers rely on the worst possible method of teaching, i.e. lecturing while even Confucius half a thousand years before Christ knew that lecturing is the least effective method of all as we naturally can't stay focused for too long and we are less likely to remember things...

Schools should be forced not to use lectures or at least keep them to the minimum. Instead, teachers should use more visuals to present knowledge and first of all students at schools should be given more freedom on how they want to acquire this or that... Teachers give more freedom to your students! Let them get out of your steel teaching cage and give them opportunities to become creative, active, motivated and involved. Learning through doing should be made compulsory at school, this is my humble opinion...

What do you think?

Now, I'd like you to be creative and try to make up your own sentences or your own story with these few CPE words that I'd prepared for you:
  1. to enhance - uwydatniać
  2. amino acid - aminokwas
  3. free and bound form - postać wolna i związana (np. aminokwasu)
  4. ripening - dojrzewanie (np. owoców)
  5. sugar beet - burak cukrowy

It's a Native American Day today... in the USA :)

I wish our Polish history could have some Native American touch :) Anyhow, this is the day that is celebrated in the USA to remember about the first inhabitants of America.

When I was a teenager I used to read stories about Native Americans, such as "Czerwonoskóry generał", "Winnetou" or "Biały mustang". These books were always very gripping and I read them from cover to cover.

I've also always liked Native American music. One of my all time favorite tracks is 'Promentory' from "The Last of the Mohicans"; just listen...

Now, take a look at a few CPE words which I'd prepared for you:
  1. commonplace - pospolity
  2. extortionate - wymuszony, wygórowany, zawyżony
  3. ploys - sztuczki, chwyty, fortele

It's a Comic Book Day today...

Hi! I've recently learnt that it's a Comic Book Day today in the USA... Let's talk about comic books for a second.
Do you like comic books? Do you have your favorite ones? What are they? Are comic books still popular today? What is your opinion?

When I was a kid I used to read the all time classic comic books such as "Tytus Romek i A'Tomek",  "Kajko i Kokosz" or "Jonka, Jonek i Kleks"... I remember that grey PRL reality in which comic books really made my days brighter and more colorful.

Do you have any memories connected with comic books? Or perhaps you have a flair for drawing comic characters with bubbles? Let me hear from all of you!

A few CPE words now:
  1. intrepid - nieustraszony
  2. banded together - zrzeszony
  3. fully-fledged - w pełni przygotowany
  4. irreverent - lekceważący
  5. decidedly - stanowczo

Source: http://demotywatory.pl/3461013/23-wrzesnia

I've found out it's a Hug Day today! I've also read some more specific information that it's a day for hugging boys!

Well... what else should be said here? The only thing that comes to my mind is that - if you're a girl/woman - you should not miss such an opportunity to give as many boys as you can a hug... or many hugs...

So, don't waste your time, look around and run now to the first boy/man you see to give him a bug hug! :)

I think, I will leave my office door open today in hope to get a hug too :)

Now, I'd like to give you a few CPE words which I would like you to "hug" too :)

I'm not a business woman... :)
But I am happy someone decided it's a Business Women's Day today... I guess there are still more business men than women but I am not sure of this... Perhaps you have more information; if so, please share...

I am wondering now whether or not it's easier for a woman to run a business... or perhaps it does not matter at all.

If you're a woman reading this post now, I have a few questions to you:

I have found out it's a National Cheeseburger Day today... in the US :)

So what do you think of cheeseburgers? Are they still in fashion? I guess the world trend is now not to indulge in fast food but rather take time and effort to prepare healthy, organic slow food...

Still, there are many people who visit this or that fast food outlet to satisfy their hunger fast :) What about you? Are you a fast food lover? Perhaps you are addicted to fast foods? Huh?

Well, listen to my advice... If I were you, I would quit fast foods ASAP... Not only are they addictive but they make you grow fat in no time...

I have found out it's a Collect Rocks Day today... Do you collect rocks? Have you? My son used to collect beautiful rocks... There was a time we spent quite a lot of money on this hobby. I guess he still keeps some of these rocks in a box somewhere.

Are you collecting anything... except for money? :) Tell me what? How long have you had this hobby?

I used to collect stamps when I was a kid. I used to collect postcards from my then Russian friends with whom we had to exchange letters in Russian. Did you know it's a Sewing Machine Day today?

I have found out it's a Sewing Machine Day today... When I was a child my granny used to regularly use some vintage German feet-operated sewing machine... She made her clothes and repaired curtains and did other things I can't name... It occupied almost half of the room I was living in!

Later, my parents also had an electric sewing machine and I touched it a few times too. Anyway, it's not the best equipment I have ever used... Do you have any experience with sewing machines? Or perhaps you still have and use one?

It would be cool to hear from such people!

It's a "Be Late For Something Day"... I think we should celebrate it :)

I have found out it's a Be Late For something Day today... From my observations I can challenge a thesis that most people have problems with being punctual. I myself try to do my best to always arrive some time before a meeting or some other event. Being late makes me feel terrible and sometimes I envy those people who leisurely turn up and feel unmoved by attracting other people's attention, etc.

I think such people as myself should celebrate today and just arrive late wherever I have to be today... What do you think?

Take a look at a few CPE words that I have prepared for you:

  1. to lament - biadać
  2. fertility rate - współczynnik płodności
