New Year's Eve!

Życzę ci uważnych oczu,
które dostrzegą drobne sprawy naszego dnia codziennego
i stawią je w prawdziwym świetle…

Życzę ci takich uszu,
które wyłapią wszelkie przemilczenia i półtony…

Życzę ci takich rąk,
które nie będą się długo zastanawiać, czy komuś pomóc…

Życzę ci odpowiednich słów w odpowiednim czasie
i życzę ci kochającego serca,
któremu pozwolisz się prowadzić przez życie,
aby wszędzie tam, gdzie ty, był i twój pokój…

Życzę ci miłości, szczęścia, poczucia bezpieczeństwa,
wiele dobroci,
przez którą człowiek każdego dnia staje się kimś więcej…

Życzę ci odpowiedniego wypoczynku i dobrego snu,
bo to jest bardzo ważne…

Życzę ci takiej pracy,
która sprawia radość i pozwala żyć dostatnio…

Życzę ci spotkań z takimi ludźmi,
którzy będą cię kochać,
którzy w chwilach trudnych dodadzą ci odwagi,
którzy cię pocieszą, gdy przyjdzie na ciebie godzina smutku.

Tego wszystkiego życzę Tobie
i to ci przekazuję w moim znaku pokoju.

The other day I was asked how to say NIEZGODNY...

Source: www.theguardian.com

The other day I was asked how to say 'niezgodny'... I don't remember what we were talking about when this word popped up and I need to share it with you...
The word is:

DISCORDANT

Thsi word often appears with two prepositions 'to' or 'from' so you can say that something is discordant to/from something, e.g.:

  • Her whole being is discordant from the ruthless discipline of the steel...
  • ...that practice is discordant from recommendations
  • the fact that it is discordant from the due rule of reason or the law of God
  • ...among women whose identity is discordant from their behavior
  •  the Rannoch Formation of the Brent Group which is discordant to stratigraphy
  • But lawyers contend it is misleading about either it is discordant to UKor European law
  • a form of connection that is discordant to discourses of self-reliance and sustainability

My question to you:
Can you list a few things that are discordant to your beliefs?

BOB

My personal experience:
I have been fishing perhaps two times in my whole life... I can't say I am keen on fishing although I do like this type of activity, that is doing nothing or just observing something for a long time...

My question to you:
Do you like fishing? Can you tell us more about different floats? Why are there so many different shapes and colors?

It's Christmas Eve today! Ain't it cool?

And the angel said unto them,
Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy, which shall be to all people."
Luke 2:10 KJV

This Christmas may your hearts be filled with love,
your home be filled with peace,
and your lives be filled with God's richest blessings.

Lots of Christmas Joy for you and your dear ones from
- Rafał :)

And my favorite English carol for you:
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen!

TO MAKE A GOOD FIST OF STH

My personal experience:
I like making a good fist of the things I do. I think I am a reliable person and when I promise someone to do something, I try to do my best. The problem is that I expect things to be done as well as I try to do them, which often makes me feel disappointed...

My question to you:

SCUFF

My personal experience:
Frankly, I don't scuff my shoes quickly because I drive most of the time, which makes me sad as I would like to walk more... Isn't it the symptom of the so called modern lifestyle? You don't wear down your shoes as often as you used to in the past, do you?

My question to you:
What do you scuff?

SLOW TRAIN

My personal experience:
I haven't been on any train for ages now. Since I bought a car I haven't needed to use any train. When I was a teenager, than of course, I did use trains more often, especially to go on holidays... with my girlfriend then :) I remember that we even got lost once in Małkinia Górna or Dolna - don't remember now... We were supposed to change trains there but we were so tired that we overslept the moment we were to get off the train :) This mistake resulted in spending a great night at a local railway station :) We took a bus the next morning and we got back home with a few hour delay :) An exciting adventure, isn't it?

My question to you:
Do you often go by slow trains? What are your experiences of slow trains?

I guess everybody has experienced what we call limescale, especially in electric kettles which have to be regularly cleaned as limescale settles awfully quickly and then we need to remove it to make sure the kettle is more efficient and water is of better quality...

My question to you:
How often do you remove limescale from your kettle?

The other day I was asked how to say 'mieć coś z głowy'... I don't remember what we were talking about when this popped up...

The answer is:

TO GET STH OUT OF THE WAY

My personal experience:
I love getting things out of the way, it's my nature to have things done as soon as possible. I don't really like the feeling of being mentally confined to tasks that need to be done...

Here, I'd love to quote an English-born American colonialist, a writer and a patriot Thomas Paine, who's also the author of the essays "Common Sense" and "The Rights of Man", who once said...

My question to you:
Do you lead, follow or prefer to get out of the way?
