Hey on this special day! :) I have picked out a few words that people often associate with New Year's Eve and decided to make up a few sentences with them... It's not a very ambitious story, still, it has some value as it contains many nice words you should learn to talk about any New Year's Eve :)
First, at midnight you have to sing Auld Lang Syne, which is the Scottish song about remembering the good old times :)
Of course people go to BALLS (bale) with BALLOONS (balony) and drink BUBBLY (musujący) champagne :) They look at the old CALENDAR (kalendarz) and wonder how quickly this old year has passed... When it's just before MIDNIGHT (północ), people start the COUNTDOWN (odliczanie). Tradition has it that at midnight people in TUXEDOS (smokingi) raise TOASTS (toasty) and exchange WISHES (życzenia). After that everybody continues CELEBRATING (świętowanie) the New Year! People throw CONFETTI, there is a lot of DANCING (taniec) and EXTRAVAGANZA (przepych, widowisko). Father Time (Stary Rok) leaves and the New Year is welcomed with lots of CHEER (radość) and FIREWORKS (sztuczne ognie). People GATHER (zbierać się) and drink from GOBLETS (kieliszków). Everybody is HAPPY (szczęśliwy), some wear fancy HATS (kapelusze) and everyone MAKES MERRY (radować się)! MUSIC (muzyka) is on till the early hours of January 1 :) People often celebrate by lighting SPARKLERS (zimne ognie) and throwing STREAMERS (serpentyna). Lots of us make VOWS (ślub) and RESOLUTIONS (postanowienia). This is how farewell to the Old Year is celebrated... in general :) Everyone hopes the New Year will be better, richer and happier :)
Just as a new bloom spreads fragrance and freshness around...
May the New Year add a new beauty and freshness into your life!
This is what it all looked like in London last year:
