MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - DOM

OUP Photocopiable
Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna egzaminujący.]

Egzaminator: Hi Gosia! Do you remember that I'm coming over (przyjeżdżam) to your place next week?
Zdający: Sure! I am really looking forward to your visit (naprawdę nie mogę się doczekać twojej wizyty)! My town has over fifty thousand inhabitants (mieszkańcy) so it's not very big. It is located in the northeastern part of Poland, in an area that is often referred to as 'the green lungs (płuca) of Poland'.
Egzaminator: Wow! Sounds fantastic as for a person who is coming from San Diego!
Zdający: Great! In spite of the fact (Pomimo faktu, że) there are not so many tourist attractions (atrakcje turystyczne), I am sure you'll be able to enjoy the greenery (zieleń) and tranquility (spokój) of the area. Of course, we can go sightseeing (iść zwiedzać) and I can show you a few neighboring towns and villages which are full of local folklore (folklor) and hospitality (gościnność)
Egzaminator: Oh, I have a feeling (mam przeczucie) it's going to be one of the best trips I have made so far!
Zdający: I am sure you won't regret (żałować) it!

Egzaminator: How will we be moving around (poruszać się)?
Zdający: Well, I guess that we'll have to rely on (polegać na) my own car as (ponieważ) our buses tend to be (mają tendencję być) overcrowded (zatłoczone) and there are no trains. Taxis, on the other hand (z drugiej strony), are expensive. Moreover, traveling by car will be more comfortable and convenient.
Egzaminator: I see. Looks like we're going to have a perfect time together!
Zdający: Not exactly. One of the problems we may have is weather. It is rather cold here now and it rains on and off (z przerwami), which may affect (wpływać na) our plans a bit. The other problem we might encounter (doświadczyć) is lack of safety (brak bezpieczeństwa). I mean, if we were (gdybyśmy mieli) to explore (badać) the town at night, we should be more careful as we may meet a few young people who are intoxicated (pod wpływem alkoholu) and often aggressive. But let's be positive. :)
Egzaminator: Well, I don't think it is just the problem of your own town. We'll manage (Damy radę), don't worry. See you next week then!
Zdający: Bye! Hope to see you next week then!

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.

MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - KULTURA

OUP Photocopiable

Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.

Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna zdający.]
Zdający: Hi Mark! If you have a minute or so we could talk a bit about our outing to the cinema tomorrow.
Egzaminator: Sure. Let's discuss all the details.
Zdający: Right. So tell me what type of movie (typ filmu) would you be most interested in and what actors are of most interest to you. I myself like comedies and would just love to spend that time unwinding (odprężyć) myself a bit. What do you reckon? (Co o tym sądzisz?)
Egzaminator: Well, to be honest I don't really have my favorite type of film. As for actors (Jeśli chodzi o aktorów), I don't have my favorite either. So in fact I am giving you a free hand (daję ci wolną rękę) to decide. I am very agreeable (zgodny) when it comes to movies (jeśli chodzi o filmy)...
Zdający: That's cool. Let's watch a comedy that is on (którą grają) this week! The cast (obsada) includes Eddie Murphy and a few other popular names. I think you won't regret (nie będziesz żałował) a minute of the film.
Egzaminator: Sounds like fun (Brzmi nieźle). I like Eddie. I've seen him in a bunch of blockbusters (kasowe filmy).
Zdający: Fantastic! I suggest going to our local cinema. The film starts at three and five every afternoon this week. I guess it's the best time to watch something after a hard day's work (po ciężkim dniu pracy).
Egzaminator: Exactly. So when and where shall we meet?
Zdający: I think that it would be ideal if we met up (gdybyśmy się spotkali) fifteen minutes before the film in front of the cinema. The cinema is not that big so we'll see each other easily.
Egzaminator: OK. Is there anything else we should talk about?
Zdający: Well, I guess so. We haven't talked about the tickets. We'll get them when we see each other before the film. So you think it is a good idea?
Egzaminator: I am not sure. What if the queue (kolejka) is big? Maybe I'll get there a bit earlier and buy the tickets before you come.
Zdający: Well, if you could be that kind (gdybyś był tak uprzejmy). I can't be earlier as I need to stay longer at school. But just on the off chance (na wszelki wypadek), let's agree that you will take care of (zająć się) the tickets.
Egzaminator: It's a deal (załatwione).
Zdający: Thanks. See you tomorrow then! Get ready for a good laugh! (Przygotuj się na niezły ubaw!) :)

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.

MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - ŻYCIE RODZINNE I TOWARZYSKIE

OUP Photocopiable

Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna egzaminator.]

Egzaminator: So Kate... where are you going to take me?
Zdający: Well, I thought that we could go to Cracow together. This is a fascinating city in the south of Poland. It is one of the oldest cities in our country and is beautifully located on the Vistula river.
Egzaminator: Cool! How are we going to get there?

Zdający: To get there, we will first need to get to Warsaw by bus and then we'll change for a train to Cracow. The journey will probably take us some 8 hours but I really think it is worth a while (warta zachodu).
Egzaminator: Great! It will be lovely to see Cracow. I've heard a lot about the city, its attractions and its wonderful atmosphere.
Zdający: It's true! The city is amazing. You'll see for yourself soon! I hope the weather will be fine and we'll be able to explore (zbadać) the city on foot (pieszo) too. I need to check the weather forecast (prognoza pogody) for the coming days. Yesterday a weatherman (prezenter pogody) said it would be around 25 C and no rain. If it were true, we could really see and do a lot!
Egzaminator: Oh, I hope weather forecasts are credible (wiarygodne) in Poland! As you know I am staying in Poland only for a few weeks and I'm sure that another opportunity (kolejna szansa) of seeing the city will not come again soon.
Zdający: Yes, you are absolutely right. I would really love to show you around (oprowadzić  po) Cracow. I was studying there and I know the city like the back of my hand (jak własną kieszeń). I guess, you would also like to taste (posmakować) some of our Polish cuisine (polska kuchnia). In Cracow there are so many excellent places to eat out. We could have breakfasts in our hotel in Cracow and then lunch and dinner somewhere in the city center. We could get back to the hotel for suppers. What do you think?
Egzaminator: To be honest (mówiąc szczerze), I'd prefer not to have any suppers in the hotel. We can have our breakfast in the hotel and then examine (przetestować) various cafes, restaurants and pubs so that we don't eat back at the hotel.
Zdający: I see. It's fine with me.
Egzaminator: Perfect! I can't wait (nie mogę się doczekać) to see Cracow!

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.

Zadanie 3 - CZŁOWIEK (przykładowa odpowiedź)

OUP Photocopiable
Dzisiaj zapraszam do przestudiowania pierwszego przykładu odpowiedzi do Zadania 3 matury ustnej z języka angielskiego.

Czas: 5 minut

Egzaminator: Read the task and think about what you'd like to say. You have about a minute to prepare.

Egzaminator: Can you start now?

[Teraz masz około dwóch minut, żeby uporać się z dwoma zadankami. Po pierwsze wybierasz jakiś obrazek z zestawu i uzasadniasz swój wybór. Po drugie wyjaśniasz dlaczego odrzucasz pozostałe obrazki.]

Zdający: If I am to choose one of these pictures for the campaign encouraging the youth to spend their free time outdoors, I will definitely choose the first picture. First of all, it is the picture that shows two young people resting actively. They are cycling somewhere far afield (daleko od drogi). What better activity can you think of to rest well? If it is a campaign promoting spending time outdoors, I gather (sądzę), it goes without saying (rozumie się samo przez się) that it should be some physically invigorating (fizycznie pokrzepiający) way and cycling seems to be one of the best ways I know of... I guess only by doing physical exercise can you really encounter (doświadczyć) a real taste of relaxation. You must get tired, you must feel some pain in your body before you return to your sedentary lifestyle (siedzący styl życia). Besides, physical outdoor activity improves mood (nastrój), concentration, self-discipline, learning retention, memory, emotions, and intellectual performance (wydajność intelektualna)!

On the other hand, I am decisively rejecting (zdecydowanie odrzucam) the second picture. Let me explain why... Of course, the picture also shows some young people outdoors and on the face of it (na pierwszy rzut oka) it could be a good picture for the campaign too. However, since these people are not involved (zaangażowany) in any physical activity, which significantly reduces the encouraging power (zachęcającą moc) of this image. In spite of the fact that these people are outdoors, they are not moving. They are just working on their computers and are forcing their brains rather than their bodies.

[Teraz przeczhodzimy do drugiej części tego egzaminu, w której egzaminator zadaje ci dwa pytania. Na tę część zadania masz około dwóch minut.]

Egzaminator: Thank you. I will now ask you two questions.

1. What outdoor hobbies are most popular with teenagers in Poland? Why?
I guess cycling is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Poland. it is an activity that is fairly cheap. You just need to have a bike and off you go! In fact, you don't even need any cycle lanes. You can cover quite a big distance on your bike, you can leave your town or city and be at one with nature after just a few kilometers of pedaling.

2. Is playing computer games a healthy hobby?Why/Why not?
Well, I am of the opinion that in spite of all the popularity computers enjoy these days and all the fun they give, they do not make a good hobby. I guess they are highly addictive and once you get addicted, the only thing you do is spend time sitting in front of a monitor with your eyes glued to it. What worse activity can you think of to ruin your sight, your spine and to brainwash yourself?

Egzaminator: Thank you. This is the end of the exam.

POLL RESULTS: What are the top 5 world issues to you?

The poll has recently closed. It seems the most serious problems of today's world are unemployment and war/violence.

The least important, in your opinion, is the violence of human rights.

Since the problem of unemployment has won this poll, let me present you a short conversation related to working...

A: Hi Jim! You look worn out (wykończony). Is everything fine?
B: I’ve been burning the candle at both ends (rujnuje swoje zdrowie). My boss is a real slave driver (poganiacz niewolników) and has been piling on (zarzucać) a lot of work. I still can't get used to
getting up at 5.30 every day and I usually turn in (kłaść się spać) at 1:30 am at the earliest.
A: It doesn't sound good. I do hope you’re well paid for your O.T. (godziny ponadwymiarowe)
B: Well, I do get some money for it but I can't say I am am gaining a pretty penny (dobrze zarabiać). Everyone is has been keeping their noses to the grindstone lately (ciężko tyrać). Despite of that everyone in the office feels that the big kahuna (szef) will probably make people redundant (zwolni ludzi).
A: You’ve been working there for a long time, haven't you? Don't you exaggerate in thinking that your position is in jeopardy (zagrożony)?
B: Well, we'll see what happens when all the dust settles (jak będzie po pwszystkim) and things get back to normal. Then I'll ask the number one (szef) for a raise (podwyżka).
A: Good luck then! I do hope to see you in better condition, not with those bags under your eyes (wory pod oczami).
B: Thanks buddy. I hope things will ease up (poprawić się) soon.
A: I'll keep my fingers crossed (trzymać kciuki) for you!

Hey! I've got a question... What do you think the major causes of unemployment are?

Zadanie 2 - Państwo i społeczeństwo (przykładowa odpowiedź)

Obserwuję uważnie wyniki głosowania, dot. najtrudniejszego tematu maturalnego :) i widzę, że zdecydowanym liderem jest temat 'Państwo i społeczeństwo', więc dzisiaj obrazek do Zadania 2 właśnie z tej szufladki...

Czas: 4 minuty
[Po upływie ok. 10 sekund, egzaminator niestety wbija się z pytaniem: Can you start now?]

:) No to jedziemy...

(Kto?)
The picture shows two people. The one in the foreground (na pierwszym planie) is a car driver who has just been stopped or caught by the police. The other person, in the background (w tle), is a policewoman. They are both young. The driver's facial expression (wyraz twarzy kierowcy) tells me that he is rather worried that now he will have to pay a fine (kara grzywny) for breaching (złamanie/pogwałcenie) the highway code (przpisów kodeksu drogowego). The policewoman is very serious and very formal.

(Gdzie?)
The two people are on the street. It is probably the hard shoulder (część autostrady przeznaczona na postój awaryjny) of a highway (autostrada) where the policewoman had demanded (zażądała) the driver to pull up (zatrzymać się). Judging by (sądząc po) the inscriptions (napisach) on the woman's T-shirt and her car, the action is probably taking place (ma miejsce) somewhere in the USA. I may also add (mogę także dodać) that the man is in his car.

(Co się dzieje?)
Well, the driver is sitting still (siedzi nieruchomo) inside his car waiting patiently (czekając cierpliwie) for the policewoman to approach (podejść) him and to tell him what to do next. The policewoman, on the other hand (z drugiej strony), is standing behind the driver's car and is probably putting down (zapisywać) his license plate numbers (numery rejestracyjne). I believe the man is thinking now about this situation and is regretting (żałuje) his deed (postępek).

  1. Why do you think the police officer has stopped the man? (Well, I think the police officer has stopped the motorist because he had committed a road offense. It could have been either driving under the influence or just speeding.)
  2. Would you like to be a police officer? Why/Why not? (Oh yes! I have always wanted to be a policeman. It seems to be such an exciting job when you deal with people in a multitude of adrenaline rush situations. Besides, you are respected by the society and enjoy certain privileges others don't.)
  3. Describe a situation when you, someone you know, or someone on TV was stopped by the police. (Unfortunately it was me myself. I was stopped by the police on my way to school. I was in a bit of hurry and didn't want to be late for my first lesson at school so I pressed on the accelerator and... was caught for speeding... I received a ticket and had to get rid of 200 zloty, which wasn't nice at all.) -> A true story! :(

Po wszystkim egzaminator mówi:
Thank you.
Let's move on to Task 3.

[Jeżeli zdający rezygnuje z wykonania zadania: Thank you. This is the end of the exam.]

Masz sugestie, komentarze, uwagi? Swoją wersję tego obrazka? A może jakieś pytania? Wal śmiało w postach. Odpowiadam na wszystkie posty! :)

MATURA Z ANGIELSKIEGO - Zadanie 2 - Przykładowa odpowiedź - SPORT

OUP Photocopiable
Zadanie 2.

Enjoy!

Czas: 4 minuty
[Po upływie ok. 10 sekund, egzaminator niestety wbija się z pytaniem: Can you start now?]

(Kto?)
In this picture I can see a family of four (czetroosobową rodzinę). I see parents and two children; I think these are two boys. The parents are rather young, maybe in their thirties (w wieku lat trzydziestu). The kids are probably about 11 years old. They are all wearing professional skiing equipment such as helmets (kaski), goggles, ski jackets and the like (i temu podobne).

(Gdzie?)
In my view the family are on some winter holidays in the mountains because the background of the picture  seems to be (tłem obrazka wydaje się być) a foot (podnórze) of a ski slope (stoku narciarskiego). I see there's quite a lot of snow but the weather looks very agreeable (bardzo przyjemna).

(Co się dzieje?)
Well, the family aren't doing much here (dużo tutaj nie robią). They seem to have just reached (wydaje się, że właśnie dotarli do) the bottom (dół) of the slope and are taking a short rest (mają chwilowy odpoczynek). I see that the mother is unfastening (odpina) one of the kid's helmet's chinstrap (pasek pod brodą). The father is just posing for (pozuje do) the photo just as (tak jak) the boy in the foreground (na planie pierwszym) who is holding his skis (narty) and smiling to the camera. I gather (wnioskuję) that after a few minutes break they will just continue skiing.

  1. Are the people getting ready to ski or have they just finished skiing? Why do you think so?
  2. Do you like watching winter sports on TV? Why/Why not? (No, I don't. I find watching winter sports on TV boring. I'd much better prefer watching summer sports as usually more is happening and there is more to look at.)
  3. Tell me about a sport you watched on TV recently. (Most recently I have watched a basketball match on TV. The match was really great, the players were playing really professionally and the game was really compelling. What's more, a few minutes before the final whistle the losing team scored two goals in a row! That was really indescribable!)

Po wszystkim egzaminator mówi:
Thank you.
Let's move on to Task 3.

[Jeżeli zdający rezygnuje z wykonania zadania: Thank you. This is the end of the exam.]

MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - ZAKUPY I USŁUGI

Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna egzaminujący.]
Egzaminator: Hello. How can I help you?
Zdający: Hello. I have been invited to an elegant party in my company. I'm afraid I need your advice on (potrzebuję Pańskiej rady na temat) what type and color of suits I should buy. This looks like a good place to buy the right things.
Egzaminator: Yes, absolutely. This is one of the best suit stores in the city. I would recommend our new collection of suits (nowa kolekcja garniturów) over there. I guess the best colors are dark steel or just black. Please, follow me (proszę za mną) and I will show you a few suits by Gucci, Prada and Yves Saint-Laurent.
Zdający: Excellent. Do you have these suits in size (w rozmiarze) 48? I need it to fit me perfectly (potrzebuję, żeby leżał na mnie idealnie). The occasion is very important to me. I am going to be promoted.
Egzaminator: Oh, cool! So you really need to look better than perfect. Yes, here we have size 48. Please choose a few designs (wzory) and try them on (przymierzyć) in our changing rooms (przymierzalnie) over there.
Zdający: Great! I think, I'll take these two to try on if you don't mind.

      Egzaminator: Of course not.
Zdający: And? How do I look? (Jak wyglądam?)
Egzaminator: Well, to be honest, the trousers are too loose (zbyt luźne) here and this color doesn't really suit you (do Pana nie pasuje). Please, try this other one.
      Zdający: OK, and now?
Egzaminator: Oh, yeah! Now, you look fantastic! Simply fantastic! It fits like a glove! (Leży jak ulał!)
Zdający: Great. Then I'll take this one. How much is it? I am ready to pay anything you want as the occasion is really important. It's my first visit to such a posh (elegancki, szykowny) shop!
      Egzaminator: This one is $1,500.
Zdający: OK. Do you accept credit cards (honorujecie Państwo karty kredytowe) or shall I pay in cash (płacić gotówką)? I don't mind either way.
Egzaminator: That's fine, we accept both cash and credit card payments.
Zdający: Do you accept Visa cards?
      Egzaminator: Of course.
Zdający: Ok, thank you so much.
Egzaminator: It's been a pleasure. Please, call in again (zapraszamy ponownie) soon.

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.

MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - Nauka i Technika

OUP Photocopiable

Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna zdający.]

Zdający: Hello. I am looking for (szukam) a flat to rent (do wynajęcia). Am I calling the right number?
Egzaminator: Yes. I have a flat to rent.
Zdający: Great. I have a few questions if you didn't mind (gdyby nie miał Pan nic przeciw)...
      Egzaminator: Not at all.
Zdający: OK, first I would like to ask about the kitchen. Is it well-equipped (dobrze wyposażona)
Egzaminator: Well, there is some basic furniture but I can't say it is well-equipped.

Zdający: I see. But I hope there is a fridge, a table and a sink (zlew), isn't there?
Egzaminator: Yes, there is a fridge, a small table and a sink, of course. But if you thought of a microwave or any cutlery (sztućce) or dishes (naczynia), there are none... You have to bring your own stuff (własne rzeczy)
Zdający: Alright. Is there any access (dostęp) to the Internet? Is there a TV set? I need to use the Net for my studies. TV is not so important on second thoughts (po namyśle), but I really need to have the Net.
Egzaminator: Yes, you can use the Net as there is a very good Wi-Fi connection in that flat. There is no TV alas (niestety).
Zdający: What about the rent (czynsz)? I hope it's not too high as I am just a student and I have to rely on (polegać na) my own income (dochód). I work only part-time (na pół etatu) in the evenings.
Egzaminator: The rent is Ł150 a week (na tydzień).
Zdający: Oh, Ł150 a week is just fine for me. Are there any other bills (rachunki) I would have to settle (regulować)?
Egzaminator: Ł150 includes everything except for (poza) the Internet. You will have to pay an extra (dodatkowo) Ł20 a week.
Zdający: That's ok. As I said, Internet connection is very important for me.
Egzaminator: Do you have any other questions?
Zdający: Yes, one more thing... I hope there will be no other flat-mates (współlokatorzy) in the there. I am interested in renting the flat just for myself and wouldn't like to encounter (doświadczyć) any surprises.
Egzaminator: Yes, this is clear (jasne). You will be there just on your own (sam). No worries. Would you like to see the flat?
Zdający: Sure. I'll call you in an hour to make an arrangement (umówić się na spotkanie).

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.

It's been 100 years now since...

... the ill-fated (nieszczęsny) ship called Titanic set off (wyruszył) on its voyage (podróż) from Southampton to New York. It was April 10, 1912 when this British passenger liner (pasażerski liniowiec) disappeared on the horizon with  2,224 people on board. The unsinkable (niezatapialny) ship collided with an iceberg (góra lodowa) on the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912 and... sank causing the deaths of 1,514 people.

Who were the passengers? These were some of the richest people in the world together with at least one thousand emigrants from Great Britain and Ireland, and Scandinavia who wanted to settle down (osiedlić się) in North America...
How could such a disaster have happened? Well, there are many theories, speculations, analyses... Perhaps some people were too confident that the ship would never sink as it had advanced safety features... However, due to a set of unfortunate coincidences (nieszczęśliwy splot okoliczności) led to the deaths of a third of the ship's passenger and crew capacity.

More about the ship itself and all around it can be found on the website of Titanic Belfast, click here.

Is there anybody interested in this story? Has anybody been to the new museum in Belfast yet? Are any of your relatives on the voyage to New York aboard the MS Balmoral? Don't you think it is a sort of asking-for-trouble event?

Czas: 4 minuty
[Po upływie ok. 10 sekund, egzaminator niestety wbija się z pytaniem: Can you start now?]

Thank you.
Let's move on to Task 3.

[Jeżeli zdający rezygnuje z wykonania zadania: Thank you. This is the end of the exam.]

A teraz podaję przykładowy opis w/w obrazka:

In the picture I can see a group of young children who are taking a ride on a roller coaster. They are sitting in their roller coaster cars. I guess it must be an amusement park. The children seem to be really enjoying their ride as their faces express great excitement and joy. They are probably screaming and shouting to express their emotions while going up and down on the roller coaster.

Pytania:
1. Are children excited or scared? Why do you think so?
2. Do you like going on roller coasters? Why/Why not?
3. Tell me about the last time you felt excited or scared.

No i przykładowe odpowiedzi:
1. As I have already said the children look rather excited. I think so because their faces do not look as if they were scared. They are screaming in excitement.
2. Yes, I do. This is an awesome thing. You can get really excited and experience this nice feeling in your stomach, i.e. 'butterflies'. It is so pleasant to experience wind on your face when you're going down in your car. You feel the rays of sun on your cheeks when you're going up! Besides, the speeds you experience on roller coasters are just crazy!
3. The last time I got excited when I was on a roller coaster in Disneyland in Paris. It was a few years ago and we took a really crazy ride on one of its roller coasters. The 'G' forces you experience are simply indescribable.

OUP Photocopiable

Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna egzaminujący.]

Egzaminator: I think you are an eco-ignorant (osoba nieuświadomiona ekologicznie). You live as if our environment was to last (miałoby trwać) for ever!
Zdający: What? I guess you are a bit uninformed (niedoinformowany)... I do my best to be green (przyjazny ekologii). I save (oszczędzam) water and energy at home. All my family members are really highly aware of (wysoce świadomi) how much we have to care for (troszczyć się o) our planet.
Egzaminator: Oh. I have always thought you didn't bother (przejmować się) about ecology.
Zdający: Well, you were wrong (byłeś w błędzie) then. To tell you more, I also take part in (biorę udział w) many green campaigns (kampanie ekologiczne) at school. Our class are members of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and we take many actions to promote green thinking.
Egzaminator: Wow. I have to say I am really impressed (jestem pod wrażeniem). So what are the coming events (nadchodzące imprezy) then?
Zdający: Next week we are giving a performance (przedstawienie) entitled (zatytułowane) "Get Greener!" Students from neighboring schools are coming and we will be educating (kształcić) them on ways to live and think green.
Egzaminator: OK, do you think I could come to see the show too?
Zdający: Sure. What's more, I have already signed up for (zapisałem się na) an online course on "Domectic Ways of Environment Protection". After a few months of study I will do an exam (przystąpić do egzaminu) and will be allowed to train (szkolić) others.
Egzaminator: I see. Well, I have to say I hold you in high regard (mam dla ciebie wielki szacunek) now. I really didn't know you are such an activist (aktywista)

Thank you.

Let’s move to Task 2.

MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - SZKOŁA

OUP Photocopiable

Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna egzaminujący.]
Egzaminator: Hi. My name's Peter. I am new here. Can you tell me more about this language course (kurs językowy) please?
Zdający: Hi Peter. Nice to meet you. I guess the first thing you should know is our timetable (plan zajęć). We have classes every day from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. Each lesson lasts (trwa) 90 minutes.
Egzaminator: I see. What about teachers?
Zdający: Oh, teachers are just perfect. Each day we have a lesson with a new one. All of them are native speakers of English and they come from different parts of the world. On Mondays it is Kevin from LA, California, on Tuesdays it's Helen from England, on Wednesdays it's Ken from South Africa, on Thursdays it's Monica from Scotland and on Fridays it's Patrick from Ireland. Quite a nice variety (różnorodność), don't you think?
Egzaminator: Cool. But is it really good that classes are held (zajęcia są prowadzone) by so many different teachers? I don't think it's good for your learning. Each teacher has his/her own way of running their classes (prowadzenia swoich zajęć). Don't you have a feeling that these classes are a bit chaotic (chaotyczne)?

Zdający: No, not at all. All lessons are perfectly organized and harmonized as the teacher who is to hold (ma poprowadzić) a class the next day knows exactly where the previous teacher had left it so classes go smoothly (idą gładko). Besides, each day you see a new person so lessons are never boring.
Egzaminator: Well, maybe you're right. We'll see how it's going to work in practice.
Zdający: I think, you also need to know a few other things...
      Egzaminator: Yes?
Zdający: If you are interested, there are many extracurricular classes (zajęcia dodatkowe) you can join. You can join one or more of the clubs the school offers, e.g. a sports club, a film club or a military club. There are many more, but I don't remember all of them. You'll have to go and read about them on the notice board (tablica informacyjna) at the entrance (przy wejściu).
Egzaminator: OK, thank you very much for this information. Do you think there's anything else I need to know?
Zdający: Well, maybe just that you must not skip (opuścić) more than 10 per cent of all classes. When you do, you will have to buy some extra hours (dodatkowe godziny) to complete the course and take the final exam (podejść do egzaminu końcowego).
Egzaminator: I do appreciate (doceniam) your help. Thank you very much.

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.

MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - ŻYWIENIE

OUP Photocopiable
Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?
[Rozmowę rozpoczyna zdający.]
Zdający: Hey Julia! I've noticed (zauważyłem) you have changed your dietary habits (nawyki żywieniowe) recently. You eat only fast foods. What are the reasons for your sudden change of diet? I hope you know what you are doing...
Egzaminator: Yeah. I have no time to prepare food myself. I have had a lot of work recently. Besides, a nice fast food outlet (punkt sprzedający żywność fast food) has opened recently in the vicinity of (w pobliżu) my flat so I am taking advantage of (korzystam) it to the full (w pełni).
Zdający: So what is it that you eat nowadays? I guess these are Big Macs and Double Cheesburgers... I hope you are fully aware (w pełni świadoma) of how high-calorie food (żywność wysoko-kaloryczna) it is and what you will look like soon (jak będziesz wkrótce wyglądać)
Egzaminator: Oh, come on! I hope you don't really believe that fast food can be harmful (szkodliwy) to your health, do you? I have always eaten fast foods, and especially Big Macks and Double Cheesburgers, and have never noticed any detrimental (szkodliwy) effects to my body. I love this kind of food. At least (przynajmniej) it tastes good (dobrze smakuje) compared to your vegetarian tasteless (niesmaczny) stuff.
Zdający: Well, I am afraid you will notice side-effects (efekty uboczne) of this diet very soon. It's true you have always eaten fast foods, but you didn't have these burgers three times a day and we used to go to the gym (chodzić na siłownię) together! You had an opportunity (okazję) to burn (spalić) that fat (tłuszcz). Now you just don't move at all! I guess you will put on weight (przytyć) very quickly and you will feel bad soon. That's guaranteed!
Egzaminator: Oh, I think you are just exaggerating (przesadzasz). Let's have my meals today! You'll see you will not get fat.
Zdający: No, thank you. I'd rather stay (wolałabym raczej) at home and have my garlic red potatoes! Just give up (porzucić) on your unhealthy (niezdrowy) diet. Think of the costs. You spend more that if you decided to prepare veggie meals (posiłki wegetariańskie) on your own.
Egzaminator: No, I have no time and I think the cost is just smaller that if I wanted to start making my own meals.
Zdający: Well, it's up to you (twoja sprawa). You will soon see I am right. I hope you will not regret (żałować) your decision.
Egzaminator: I won't.

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.

MATURA USTNA Z ANGIELSKIEGO 2012 - Zadanie 1 - Przykładowa rozmowa - PODRÓŻOWANIE i TURYSTYKA

OUP Photocopiable

Egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego
Zadanie 1
Time: 3 minutes
Preparation: 30 seconds

Let’s start with Task 1. Read the task. You have about half a minute for that. Then we’ll start.
Can we start now?

·         Egzaminator: Hello! What can I do for you?
Zdający: Yes, I have a few questions concerning my stay in London. How can I get around London to see the most popular tourist attractions (atrakcje turystyczne)?
Egzaminator: There are really quite a few ways of exploring the capital (badać stolicę). You can use the Tube (metro), buses, bikes or just walk.
Zdający: Yes, but I wouldn't like to waste too much time walking as I am staying here only for a few days. I need something relatively (stosunkowo) cheap and fast to take me exactly where I want.
Egzaminator: Well, if I were you, I'd definitely go for the Tube then.
Zdający: I see. So what tourist attractions would you suggest seeing here? I know there are so many places worth visiting (warte zobaczenia), but as I said, my time is limited but it would be just great to see as much as possible.
Egzaminator: I think you should see the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye. Then you can go on one of many Thames River Cruises. Besides the Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral are a must.
Zdający: Great. What about entertainment? How can I spend evenings out?
Egzaminator: You can go to clubs and discos.
Zdający: It sounds fine. What clubs would you recommend in the vicinity of (w pobliżu) this place?
Egzaminator: I think Red Lion would be a nice place to spend time in. It is a very friendly gastro-pub.
Zdający: Really great! What is the weather like here? Does it really rain often in July? Will I experience foggy mornings (mgliste poranki)?
Egzaminator: The weather is really perfect. Even if we have some unexpected showers (przelotne deszcze) they add to the atmosphere of the city. Just carry an umbrella on the off chance (na wszelki wypadek).
Zdający: That's perfect. I will have to get myself an umbrella then.
Egzaminator: Enjoy the city then!

Thank you.
Let’s move to Task 2.
